Elder Program

The Elder Program at Camp fYrefly hosts Aboriginal leaders in our community, with preference given to those who are two-spirit, queer, or well versed in sexual and gender minority issues. Experience in leading cultural programming is an asset, especially with youth.

The Elder works with all youth at camp, and is a particular point person for two-spirit and FNMI campers. The general role of the Elder is to mentor youth and support youth one-on-one as the need arises, and also to lead workshops with the campers.

If you or someone you know would be great for our Elder Program for a future camp, we welcome your suggestions and encourage you to contact our Camp Coordinators.

We are delighted to announce that 2015 Camp fYrefly-Edmonton Elder will be Quinn Wade.
