Hilary Mutch has been involved with residential camping, outdoor education and outdoor leadership programs for the past five years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from McGill University, where she received scholarships and awards for academic work, outdoor leadership as well creative writing and poetry. Hilary’s passion for working with youth in the outdoors has led her to a variety of positions – including teaching nature-focused arts and crafts to younger children, supporting outdoor schools programming, training and supervising staff and directing leadership-in-training programs. As the Calgary fYrefly Program Coordinator, Hilary is incredibly excited to continue her journey with camps as part of a program that celebrates creativity, diversity and community in her home province of Alberta. When she’s not in her office at the Calgary Sexual Health Centre, or delivering fYrefly-in-Schools presentations in Calgary schools she enjoys outdoor activities like biking, skiing and rock-climbing. Hilary also loves literature, art and music – she believes creativity is a powerful tool for self-expression and community building and likes to paint, play guitar and write poetry whenever she has a chance.
